MYTH: Trump Hates Muslims and wants to forever ban them from The United States and "that's not who we are" as a country.

After the attacks in San Bernadino, Trump called for a temporary ban of foreign Muslims traveling to or migrating to the United States until leaders can figure out and/or understand the Islamic hatred against the west. Trump has repeatedly stated it was about national security rather than any dislike or hatred for Muslims.

Is it Constitutional?
After many media pundits decried the ban's unconstitutionality, they discovered Trump was correct. It IS indeed "who we are as a country" and under code 8 U.S. Code § 1182 governing Inadmissible aliens, it's permissible.

Cornell cites this provision of federal law:
Whenever the president finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or non-immigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.”
There is even precedent for the ban. In 1891, Congress passed a statute that made inadmissible people who practice polygamy, and no court has yet ruled it unconstitutional. It was generated to limit entry of the Mormon religion and the law remains on the books.

Imam Nidal Alsayyed agrees with Trump and explains why. He was asked to resign from his job for expressing this agreement, further underscoring why he expressed his agreement in the first place.

Trump and Muslim Business partners.
Interesting to note that Trump has business interests in the heavily Muslim countries of Indonesia, Turkey, Qatar, Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, and Azerbaijan. Multiple golf courses, hotels and housing projects bear the Trump name in those countries, as do consumer products in stores dotting the Arabian peninsula.

If Trump were running for President specifically to line his own pockets, it's doubtful he'd have risked millions of dollars in income from these regions by announcing a temporary halt to Muslim travel and immigration. By risking this income source, it becomes clear that the ban is NOT due to a hatred of  Muslims but is truly about National Security and keeping American's safe, no matter the cost to himself. With few exceptions, those Muslim business partnerships have not suffered from Trump's position.
"We would like to stress that our agreement is with the Trump Organization as one of the premium golf course operators in the world and as such we would not comment further on Mr. Trump's personal or political agenda, nor comment on the internal American political debate scene," said Niall McLoughlin, senior vice president at the Dubai-based luxury developer, DAMAC Properties.
